There will always be debate over who are the best villains but I’m throwing down the gauntlet. Since San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, its been pretty clear that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is setting up the eventual appearance of the Sinister Six. The villains of Amazing Spider-Man 2 disappoint in this overcrowded superhero sequel. That’s not even counting the extended Spider-verse. In this superhero sequel, Spider-Man finds that his incredible powers come at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains.

Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery contains over a 100 villains, dangerous enough to be stolen regularly by other comic book series and popular enough to be retconned ad nauseum. Using these arms gives added strength and dexterity to her scientific research AND her desire to defeat any spidey-foe that stands in her way. Like other versions of Doc Ock, Olivia also has four mechanical arms fused to her body.
Special mention needs to be given to Doc Ock from Into the Spider-verse, AKA Dr Olivia Octavius. Sure, the delivery isn’t great but you have to admire a villain who wants his surviving legacy to be saving the world, right? One of my favourite arcs for Doc Ock was The Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth, where this top villain threatens the world with climate destruction if they do not pay into his amazing scheme to SAVE the world from climate change. The villains are too few (just Electro and Green Goblin. There are multiple versions of Doc Ock and each of them have provided more than enough challenge to our web-swinging hero.ĭr Octavius was originally a brilliant scientist, a common theme in Spider-Man comics and a great way to elicit some empathetic response from Spidey. Most of the film show the romantic story of Peter and Gwen (I think).
